Procedure

  1. Download the SP FW from the NetApp Support site, download page, Firmware, System FW and Diagnosis. Select the appropriate controller platform and select the installation image from the Data ONTAP prompt.

  2. Rename the file as SP_FW.zip.

  3. Copy the file to the /etc/software directory on the controller using any of the methods - CIFS, NFS, FTP or TFTP.

  4. Run the software update SP_FW.zip command.
    filer> software update SP_FW.zip
    software: You can cancel this operation by hitting Ctrl-C in the next 6 seconds.
    software: Depending on system load, it may take many minutes
    software: to complete this operation. Until it finishes, you will
    software: not be able to use the console.
    software: installing software, this could take a few minutes...
    software: Data ONTAP(R) Package Manager Verifier 1
    software: installation of SP_FW.zip completed.
  5. Run the sp update command:
    Filer> sp update
    Updating the SP firmware.
    Please ensure you have run 'software install' command with correct parameters for 'sp update' prior to this step.
    DO NOT reset this system during this process.
    New SP version : 1.2.3
    Current SP version : 1.2.2

    You need to reboot the SP for the new image to take effect
    NOTE : If your console connection is through the SP,it will be disconnected
